Haghios Gheorghios panorama, Lycabettus hill
Reaching into the once-crystalline Athenian sky, Lycabettus Hill is actually a limestone rock nearly 1,000 feet in height. On top of the green and white hill sits a white church, Haghios Gheorghios. To reach the top, visitors take a two-minute funicular up the southeast flank of the hill. The panorama from the top of the hill is spectacular. To the north, the view reaches to Mount Parnes and to the west one can see Piraeus and the Saronic Gulf. Even the Acropolis can be viewed from this stunning vantage point. Lastly, visitors can eat and relax at the restaurant located at the top of the hill.
