Acropolis Parthenon
Behold the historical Acropolis Parthenon, a former temple to the Greek goddess Athena of the ancient City of Athens. The Parthenon boasts a spectacular view of Athens, towering over the city and serving as a Greek icon. To date, the Parthenon is considered one of the finest examples of Doric-style construction. The structure was designed by the famous sculptor, Phidias, and built in 447 BC. During its time, the Parthenon served as both a church and a mosque before being converted into munitions depot during the Turkish Occupation of Greece. Finally, in 1687, an explosion penetrated the building causing the massive damaged still seen today.
